The speedometer drive gear is installed in the tailshaft on the drivers side. Look at part # 101 in the diagram. I have also attached a photo of a speedometer drive gear housing.My '69 El Camino was built with a Powerglide, but the previous (or previous previous?) owner converted it to a TH350. I destroyed the old cooler lines when I removed the engine, so I had to replace the cooler lines.
