It is doable. Our ranged rogue has fun and its our skill monkey and likes range even though in melee he does more damage.

Rogue is also good for sneak attack- water Kineticists can just always have this work. Really though, without free archetype, I don't see any multiclass really being worth it, unless it just a level 2 dip (just the dedication feat). If that's the case- Medic, Sentinel, Blessed One, and Loremaster are the only ones really worth it to me.However, this broad skillset doesn't come without cost. Psychic dedication is probably the best spellcasting dedication for the investment tbh. The dedication gets you a skill, a cantrip (with the added effects the psychic gets) and a focus pool. You can nab the unique cantrip at 6 as well.Traits. The multiple attack penalty you take with this weapon on the second attack on your turn is -4 instead of -5, and -8 instead of -10 on the third and subsequent attacks in the turn. You can use your Dexterity modifier instead of your Strength modifier on attack rolls using this melee weapon.

Beastmaster, can almost always add something great to every character. Barbarian, can add a little damage and some fun fetas. Magus... Spellstrike, not much more to say. Rogue, more skills. Of course all the multiclass options give access to some fun feats. It can take a while to look through them though.

A wizard, or the grabbing silence spell feat as part of wizard dedication would let you cast these things quietly.
