Re: Cog Railway. Yes, indeed. There is a narrow gauge partially cog railway from Brig (from Geneva you get on at Visp now) to Zermatt and another from the village up to Gornergrat. The one from Brig is the continuing track from the Glacier Express. Because it is narrow gauge you have to change from the mainline trains. Everyone should have a chance to see the view from Pikes Peak and the Cog railway is the best way to get there. Hosts provide a great bit of facts on the history of the mountain and the railway. Go early, we went at 8 a.m. (and enjoyed a $5/each discount coupon). Sep 25, 2023 · The most difficult thing about taking the cog railway was finding reasonable parking in Manitou Springs and locating the free shuttle. My advice is to go down Manitou Ave. until you find the funny sounding Smischny Lot at $10 for six hrs. The other lots are very expensive. From that lot walk back past the round-about to where the fountain is.
