Otherwise, extract the files in Skin Folder - Right click osu! icon and go to find file location then search for skin. Make sure once you opened the extracted files you should be able to see the skin elements.
If the zip file contains a folder for the skin, it's easier to drag the folder into your skin folder. Like sheela901 said, you can change the extension from .zip to .osk (because .osk are actually like a .zip), or you can open the .zi, extract it on a folder and then move the folder to "Skins".
