My Odyssey driver side sliding door won't open when pushing the button inside the door, but once open, it can be closed via the same button inside the door. It also opens and closes fine via key fob, dash board button, and handles inside or outside of the door. The passenger side works fine. Gas door is closed.
Sounds like you may be experiencing one of the most common problems with the Odyssey- faulty micro switches in the door latch module. . If so, the solution is a new door latch. I already had the recall issues with the drivers side door not closing and was fixed. The passenger sliding door for the past year will just stop in the middle of closing. Then you can decide whether you want to remove the whole motor or leave it in there. I'd disconnect the power to it so it doesn't beep at times.
