Using the scoop is an exercise in developing hydraulic control finesse. I don’t always go the extra mile, but when I do, it’s because I missed my exit. Rick, it sounds like your hydraulics are working normal, when in the draft position the hydraulics operate differantly, they are controled by the movement of the draft spring that is attatched from the hydraulic rocker to below your seat.

The reference to the control rod is the rod that goes from the lift mechanism to the control rod eylet on the hydraulic pump and not the touch control which should be about 2" from the top of it's travel in the quadrant to adjust the "draft" mode.
