IAC went through a lot of trouble to get the 97 right. I remember reading that they sent an well known 1897 expert to the the Norinco factory in China. If you have the riot version it should be easy to convert it to a trench. All you need is the heat shield/bayonet lug, that's the hard part. The repop has been discontinued for a while.
Seems of decent manufacture and dimensionally correct for the trench-ification of 1897 or Model 12. From what I gather, you might need to buy a different magazine cap that has a rounded pin to index the heat shield, rather than the flat-ended cylindrical pin that features a groove to hold the barrel-clamp assembly.As far as tech bugs go, this is a pretty weird one. It includes blued mounting screws. It has 4-rows of 19 holes, and is, therefore, the later variation of the Winchester Trench Gun Heat Shield that was introduced in 1941 or 1942.

It is an original trench gun and is in really good condition with one caveat - the heat shield was ripped off. It still has the bayonet lug, but the original guy ripped the heat shield off. Hell, it still has 3 of the rivets! This new Winchester 1897 12ga. Trench Gun, Heat Shield and Bayonet combo is the essential piece to building your dream WW1/WW2 Trench Gun.
