Sword and shield has it all, sure. But it's not gonna hit as hard a a greatsword. It can stun, but not as easily as hammer or sticky bowguns. It is mobile, but far from the speed and agility of the insect glaive. Maybe what I think the sword and shield is best at, is using the slinger, which is good in some situations, and great in some others.
