Mine says No. 064xx on the top tang. With the large number made they were in the catalog for several years.

The one I'm asking about in this thread is a Marlin Model 39A, 24-inch, ".22 CAL. S. L. & L.R.". The serial number under the lever is 242XX. It has a small "JM" in an oval stamped on the right side of the barrel. The stock is plain. The rust primarily extends from a couple inches past the forend to the muzzle.
