Ford used a 90-degree oil filter adapter (PN F4UE-6884-BA) on some installations, such as the Police Interceptors and some vans. It is tapped and threaded for the metric modular oil filter. Currently the ranger has a stock 7.5 ford rear end with 3.55 gears. However this will eventually be swapped out to a stronger explorer 8.8 LSD disk brake rear end with 3.73 gears. This gearing was selected to give use better performance in first to forth gear but still allow us to lower our cruising RPMs slightly in 5th.

V6 would be the same work as V8 so I would go V8, Ford 302 (5.0l) fit in a Ranger engine bay because its only 18" wide. You need engine and transmission for the swap, the 2.3l trans won't bolt to any other engine, bell housing is not detachable.
