For pvp it depends, the rapier has higher critical damage but the estoc has higher base damage, making it a better choice for turtling. I use a Dark Estoc +10 on my SL120 Pyro build that hits pretty hard. Definitely pisses people off. BTW, a refined estoc already outdamages a strength estoc at 40/18 (turtle build). It was 309 AR vs ~324 (edit) AR as far as I remember. i think the damage fluctuates when get a normal counter was %40 in dks1 and high damage is when you get a leo counter ( end of there swing) was %30 for a totle of %70 to %80.

Two pokes with the Estoc and then changing to the GS MH weapon R1s is a great way to murder people who are parry happy and try to parry you with fist weapons. You do the two pokes, then hit r1 for the GS swing, if they mash parry after the second poke the GS is slow ...It just seems their are so few thrusting weapons this time around that I wanted to make sure that the Estoc would be a safe choice. #2. Comboing makes all the difference between a casual Estoc user and a master. You can kill newbies with R1's for sure, but against a good player you just get parried. Play cleverly. I'd say Ricard's Rapier is better, but even harder to use. Crow quills have the best critical dmg and scaling of dex thrusting swords.

It has lower scaling and lower base damage than the rapier, and because criticals are much harder to get this time around, the whole "high crit damage" aspect of thrustings swords seems to be a lot less useful. Estoc has my favourite strong attack in the game, is reasonably powerful, quite quick, is quite long, and has all the utility that the thrusting swords have.
