Output speed should not inhibit your shift to range - you could be going 100, and shifting to range should put you into the correct range for that output speed. shift inhibited shift to N to reset. The range inhibit indicator will only illuminate when there is shift or range inhibit. It is an indication only. Not sure why you got your inhibit in that instance, however an inhibit is not a fault, it is the transmission telling you that you are unable to change or select a range because certain conditions have not been met.
