2008 Duramax cranks but won't start. My 2008 Chev Duramax will crank but not start. After a few minutes it wouldn't crank either. Put charger on battery for several hours, cranks again, but won't start. Tried loosening the vent screw on top of fuel filter, had to pump about 25 times to see fuel. Likely if there is an issue with any of those systems ... Typically an electronic air shut off gets its RPM signal from the crankcase sensor; however for 3.0 they had to disable that part of programming because getting to the sensor requires major dismantling of the components around the engine. Check fuses/relays. If the Injection Pump Fuse blew it would cause loss of communication. Sounds a lot like the old Cummins VP44 issue. The relay that gave the injection pump power had a faulty socket in the fuse block and would drop power and it would throw a communication code almost exactly like that and result in a no start condition. 2.0. There is no code for crank sensor or anything like that. The only codes are: P0090, P0193, U0105, U0106. Then a couple that say stuff about class 2 data link, front wheel speed sensor, and outside temp sensor, but these only show up when i read the codes with my V2. Finally got the truck to fire and run. it takes 20-30 pumps to get the primer firm. it has no visible leaks around it and all the lines from it. when the motor is cool it fires right up. after running for 5-10 minutes and shut it off, it will no start. i have no codes either.
