When it gets cold out the poping creeking sounds comes from the passenger front of the car. Its kind of like a poping creeking sound on take off only. Usually not worth it unless you truly hate the sound. Demand the dealership to replace the engine bottom end that started piston slapping early. Trouble is, you cannot expect to succeed in this for over 10-year old car. Just continue driving the ticking car. Get rid of the car by selling it. If I turn the fan speed up (with the outside air option LED lit) and press the snowflake (to kick on the compressor) it doesn't make the knocking noise. The real way to resolve this problem is to make certain that drive shaft length is absolutely correct. One eighth of an inch is the absolute maximum allowable tolerance!
