Derelict or abandoned freighters often contain high-value salvage. You can select the Receiver and use Tune Signal to scan for the location, but you should be inside your ship first. Maybe 5 seconds generally. Then you just need to go out of pulse, and reopen the menu to get to the receiver and activate it again. Sometimes you just need to open and close the menu for the receiver to activate again. Personally I usually do 3 derelict runs, then summon my freighter to save, and then do it again.This will give you an encounter with a Derelict Freighter in No Man's Sky. Derelicts are really only good to run, imo, once you have a freighter. The only loot drop that is worth the effort is the exclusive cargohold expansion or the tech upgrades( both for freighters) that drop. Otherwise all the other loot in them is basically just to kind of make up for the cost of the transponder thing you have to buy.I have a new, derelict freighter related question. I think the "unlock" device comes with the beacon, not a separate purchase. I never purchased anything but a beacon.
