How to add shaders to rlcraft.
I'm very new to minecraft on pc and I recently downloaded the RLCraft mod pack. However, it didn't come with any shaders so I went online and every video tutorial online instructed me to get optifine. Here's where the real problem starts. The Optifine version that's compatible with RLCraft is v1.12.2.

For now I went only to places I can easily return to base. Compass or atlas. Atlas gives you a mini map. atlas works great. It is basically a map with custom signs you can add. I took over a tower near a waypoint and I explore the general area clearing out dungeons and towers etc.- Then you need to launch the game, and get to the Shaderpacks/Shaders menu in Video Settings. - Open the shaderpacks folder by clicking the button in the menu. - Download Complementary Shaders and put it in the shaderpacks folder. (Please don't unzip the file) - Get back in the game, and choose Complementary in the shaderpacks menu.

Download Optifine and go through the settings. Hover over each one and it will tell you how they effect performance. Do not enable Fast Render. It breaks a lot of mods. Also, set -Xms to the same value as -Xmx (allocated ram). For example, if you've allocated 4GB you would also add the java argument -Xms4G.
