S.O.B Discussion starter. 124 posts · Joined 2010. #1 · Apr 28, 2017. ok, I converted my dually to single wheel my problem is thet the back wheel sticks out like an 1 1/2" and the front wheel is inside the fender about a 1/2". Probably not noticeable to a 3rd party but I can't quit looking at it every time I climb in the truck.

The dually axle is actually narrower, and even has leaf springs that are more inboard. Narrowing the track width will throw off the RSC calibration. It should work if you have custom super-single wheels made, but I don't know of anybody that has done it on a Transit. You can get away with spacers, my truck is an f250 converted to a dually by centurion, it uses a 3 inch spacer in the front and a 2 inch spacer in the rear, you will need to get quality spacers however, dont go buying them off ebay.The rear axle should be the only difference (and potentially the brake master cylinder - the dually axles generally have wider shoes - 3.5" wide vs 3" wide for single wheel 2500 & 3500s - and definitely have bigger brake wheel cylinders).
