Apparently 1) GMC has shitty usb ports 2) there was a recall for the wiring and 3) GMC's infotainment software assumed a maximum of 10k songs on an iPod and modern devices easily exceed this data limit which causes bugs. The shitty usb ports appear as recently as 2021 model years.
