Mercruiser produced several models of sterndrives before the Alpha One was introduced. These include the common "R" sterndrive, 888 sterndrive, 898 sterndrive, I and MR as well as others. The Alpha One was an improved design. Changes included cutting the lower gears at an opposite angle and changing the bearing load design on the lower drivehshaft.

This is about a 1/8" oil line that has the o-ring and twist connect fitting. The female part just pushes on to the plastic line and is clamped with a zip tie. I don't see where the male part goes on the lower unit. The oil line comes down right were the shift connection goes into the lower unit.
