The health panel will only show wound infections. The only reason you know for sure bitten is zombie infected is because you, the player, know it is a 100% infection chance on a bite. Even then, if the bite wound gets infected in the health panel, it's still a wound infection. Step 1: Open the Medical Panel. You can open a medical panel to check whether the character is infected. Just remember, on default settings every scratch/laceration made from a zombie has a chance to infect your character with the Knox virus by 7% and 25%, bites are 100%. Yes it still sucks when you get zombie wounded due to the game being buggy, but it changes the dynamic so if you are prepared, you can fight off the infection. I play with transmission on (only bites, cooler imho), but with infection mortality set to never. That way you still get sick, but you don't die from it.
