First review we've encountered Elliott's argument in such a crystallised form so worth tackling it. I think a lot of the comments and Jammer's review are too harsh. Regarding McCoy's comment, there is a certain context being missed. The analogy isn't a group of Cubans settling on an island off the coast of the USA (as suggested by others on this thread). But I also agree with Mike who wrote in 2013 about the seriousness of this episode to Star Trek canon. I was 12 to 15 years old when TOS originally aired. TOS was my favorite show back then. Even the handful of posts (and they surely number less than five) that weren’t review notifications should’ve been posted in Jammer’s Reviews anyway. All the commenters who are in my regular audience are over there. The two commenting systems aren’t integrated, and that’s a problem. The truth is, this blog has outlived its usefulness. Yeah, I agree with that for some reviews. In those instances it’s more the conversations in the comments that make it interesting. I haven’t read them in probably 20 years now, good to know they’re still accessible. Wow what a blast from the past. I used to read his reviews as the episodes came out. Really a throw-away B-plot if a DS9 episode ever had one. But the big issue that made "Prophet Motive" so difficult to watch is all the idiotic Quark and Rom scheming, going over the "revised" rules of acquisition, Maihar'du weeping etc. This attempt at low quality comedy didn't work at all.
